Frequently Asked Questions
What To Expect
Puppy Inquiry
A submitted application is the first step. Next, we will schedule a phone interview to review your application and answer any questions. Once approved, you will tentatively hold a puppy spot. The puppy deposit($400 non-refundable; the amount applies towards the total) is not due until after the litter is born, and we have called with exciting news to confirm your puppy spot. Our reservation list follows the order by application date received, per gender preference.
Puppy Picks
Puppy picks will happen around seven weeks of age, allowing the most time to assess puppy personalities. All puppies have the potential to succeed if given the time and fair effort in training. I aim to match puppy personalities with the family's performance goals in mind. Picks will be done over video/phone call on a scheduled date/time in the order of application date received, per gender preference. On pick day, I hope to have a couple of puppies that I believe would be a good fit; out of those options, families make a selection.
Puppy Pickup Day
Our puppies will be able to go to their new families at the age of eight weeks old. Puppies will be up to date on their first set of shots, dewormed, and looked over by our vet. All vet documents will be sent home for your records, along with registration documents, helpful puppy information, a small bag of food, and other fun goodies.
Pickup day is a scary and uncertain time for your puppy. They are leaving everything they have ever known. We encourage families to pick up in person at our location (Poteau, OK), helping them feel most comfortable in the transition.
We also understand that not all live close enough to drive. I'm willing to meet families at the airport (puppy travels in-cabin), either Tulsa (TUL) or Northwest Arkansas(XNA), for an additional fee($100).
Additionally, I have a puppy transporter that will deliver to your home. Let me know if you would like more info on this option.
The above are better options than cargo flights. Airlines have limited travel dates due to heat restrictions (June-Sept). Additionally, I will have a fee($500) to transport a puppy for a cargo flight; Dallas is the nearest airport offering cargo flights (4.5-hour drive one way). They can be just as expensive or more expensive than an in-person flight and are more scary for a pup.
